Team Fog Horne
Hello!
Welcome to my website page and bloggy thing!
What is this all about?
In 2001, just after my GCSE exams, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma, a cancer that attacks the lymphatic system. I underwent 6 months of chemotherapy and finished treatment in February 2002.
Time really does fly, and in 2012 I ran the Reading Half Marathon to mark my 10 years all clear! That was a pretty daunting challenge as I had never run, except for the odd bus. I trained hard, and I ran and I raised money for an incredible charity, CLIC Sargent.
So lets face it, I am not one to do things by half...so i figured I would do something that would be challenging and new! This 100k walk, that's 62 miles for those imperial measurists out there, starts in Eastbourne on the South Coast, goes along the Seven Sisters, through Brighton and Hove, continuing on to Arundel. This challenge is completed in 24 hours which means walking all through the night..... I am very very excited and just a tiny bit nervous!
Let training commence!
About Team Fog Horne
I am asking friends and family to undertake this challenge with me, and lend me their support on the 26th August 2017.
It would mean a lot to me to have people walking with me.
You don't have to walk the full 100k (I can hear you sighing with relief) you can decide to walk:
-
23k from Eastbourne to Alfriston which is between 4-6 hours
-
50k from Eastbourne to Brighton which is between 10-16 hours
Team Fog Horne Support Crew
There is a really VITAL role that any of my friends and family can play, that doesn't involve blisters, back packs and more blisters.....!
The route has lots of Rest Stops where people can wait in the sunshine with their feet up ready to welcome weary walkers for a drink and snack.
The half way point is in Hove Park, and this is when walkers will either finish the 50k or stop for dinner before heading on for the final 50k...!
I would LOVE people to be a long the route to cheer, give hugs and calf massages!
More info to come as we get nearer to the 26th August 2017!
